On Saturday, more than 4200 athletes braved the heatwave to compete at Marlow Regatta, at Dorney Lake. This is the 25th year that the event has taken place at the London 2012 Olympic rowing venue, and a record entry provided some fantastic high-quality racing, with many crews using Marlow as the final preparation for Henley Royal Regatta which starts next week.
It was a celebration of the best we have to offer in club and school rowing within the events offered, and crews from across the UK were joined by international crews from the USA, Australia and Canada. Local crews, Marlow, Leander, Reading University, Shiplake and Windsor Boys School all recorded wins.

Marlow Regatta was first run 170 years ago on the banks of the Thames, a highlight of the rowing calendar and renowned for the quality of racing offered. In order to grow and maintain that pedigree, the decision was made to move to Dorney Lake and 25 years later, the calibre of racing witnessed on Saturday is something the committee is incredibly proud of.

Winning crews had the opportunity to get their hands on some of the traditional silverware up for grabs. The committee were thrilled that local figures from politics and the rowing fraternity, were able to join us and make presentations – including Cllr Muryel Boulay the Mayor of Marlow, Cllr Sarfaraz Khan Raja, Chair of Buckinghamshire Council and Mike Spracklen and Geoff Baker, winners of the Double Sculls at the 1958 Commonwealth Games.

The committee made every effort to mitigate the heat on Saturday, commissioning additional water points and bringing in over 1000 extra litres of water for our athletes and spectators. Huge thanks must go to our officials, volunteers and sponsors who made the event possible and a success in extraordinary conditions.
The Committee wishes all those competing at Henley Royal Regatta the best of luck and hope to see everyone next year, when Marlow Regatta returns to Dorney Lake on Saturday 20th June 2026.
